God's Creative Power for Healing
Published in Paperback by Harrison House, Incorporated (February, 1992)
Author: Charles Capps
Average review score:

Mini Book with a GIANT Message
This book is excellent, written in a very down to earth straight forward manner. It explains in simple terms the believer's authority and right to health. I continue to read the scripture based afirmations everyday. Charles Capps has many more worthy publications than are offered here. His ministry is based in England, Arkansas.

God's Creative Power for Healing
I find the book very helpful in getting back on the road to recovery. It explanes and releases the power of god.

Powerful, God's Word is truth, FOREVER!
Glory be to Jesus!!! Truly we can have what we say. "The power of life and death is in the tongue", and if we confess and believe what Jesus says, then we will be better than blessed because we will have all that He desires for us. He said "He's not a man that He should lie", and our faith mixed with His Word, will Work. Just remember, FAITH is always ready to work, unbelief is what causes it to take a break. Read the book and be Blessed of Jesus.

Going Global? Power Tools for Negotiating International Business Deals
Published in Paperback by Global Business Press Inc. (09 June, 2000)
Author: James M. Klotz
Average review score:

Fantastic Tool for Success in International Business
"Going Global? Power Tools for Negotiating International Deals" is one of the best business books I have bought. It is a powerful practical guide to negotiating through the complexities of the deal. No lofty concepts, no philosophical wanderings - just clear straight forward explanations of the issues, what you should ask for, and what you can afford to compromise on. I would highly recommend this book."

Don't leave home without it!
I rank this book as one of the most important business guides that I have ever read. As a Canadian SME we have been exporting services for over a decade but we had no idea there were so many pitfalls that we could have been our death trap. This book outlines in a clear and concise way the basics that you need to do international deals - and when it is time to call your lawyer. Chapters 1 and 2 on "The Basics of International Business Deals" and "Negotiating International Sales of Goods and Services" should be mandatory reading for all your international sales staff. If you need to go beyond that to agency, consulting, distribution, licencing and joint ventures - all the information is there, but you can pick and choose what is important to you. You don't need to read the whole book at once, it can be a long term reference as your international work expands. There are excellent references in the book, so it is easy to find more information. I enjoyed the book so much, I took the time to go to Toronto to meet the author, so now I know there is much more to learn, but this is an excellent book by a brilliant author. Dont get on the plane for your next trip without this book in your pocket!

Essential Reading before closing the deal
This is not a text book, nor does it contain everthing you ever needed to know about negotiating business deals. However, the Author, Jim Klotz, has succeeded in summarising in 285 pages all of the essential elements required to ensure a successful outcome from the negotiating process. It is written in plain english, with outstanding clarity. It fits easily into a briefcase, perfect for last minute reassurance in the airplane or taxi. Buy it. It has already proved to be a most valuable resource.

Handle With Prayer: Harnessing the Power to Make Your Dreams Come Through
Published in Paperback by Hay House (August, 1999)
Author: Alan Cohen
Average review score:

Handle With Prayer...A Great Read & Keeper!
Truely a great read, and so eloquently written in Alan's typical writing of the heart. Handle with Prayer has strengthened my prayer life, and has allowed me to appreciate the good in myself and others. This book will not only deepen your relationship with God through prayer, but it will also teach you that through prayer and praise with the Lord, your dreams will come to life. I have sent this little book to so many of my friends as gifts and they, too, have passed it on to their family and friends. It is very spiritually inspiring, uplifting, and a refreshing approach to manifesting our destiny through the guidance of prayer, and the love of God. I wish I was allowed to give ten stars here!

Handle with Prayer helped manifest a perfect career for me
Handle with Prayer is an incredibly power book that unfolds the truth about what prayer is for. The book gave me the tools for using my prayers to affirm and know I would have exactly what I was praying for. To not only pray, but to be thankful in my prayers for what I was about to receive. And yes, I did and have received exactly what I was praying for. I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to have their prayers heard and answered.

An excellent, truly thoughtful book on the power of prayer
I have always loved the writings of Alan Cohen, and this book lives up to his prior works. I truly felt the intent and compassion behind this book, as evidenced by the goosebumps I had while reading it. This book is down-to-earth and practical, its suggestions thoughtful, thought-provoking, and do-able. This is a wonderful book for those just realizing the value of prayer, or as a confirmation for those already on the path of living a prayer-ful life.

The Healing Foods Cookbook: 400 Delicious Recipes With Curative Power
Published in Hardcover by Rodale Press (June, 1991)
Authors: Jean Rogers and Prevention Magazine
Average review score:

Realistic recipes, informative, balanced, easy to read
This cookbook is extremely helpful for those who wish to incorporate natural foods such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables into their diet without sacrificing taste and without being a gourmet cook. Different foods are listed and given their particular health benefits. There are also quite a few different and simple diet plans that pertain to specific health concerns, i.e. preventing cancer, lowering cholestoral, weight loss, etc. All in all this cookbook is something of an encyclopedia and a comprehesible, easy to follow, and informative sensible eating guide.

This is the best book I have seen on foods that heal .
Very informative! There is a whole section on the healing properties of the foods which are used in the book. You can look up different types of ailments and find out what foods to eat for that condition. It has great pictures and the recipes are easy to prepare. I give it 2 thumbs up!

An excellent guide to preparing meals that are truly healthy
I love this cookbook! It has great, simple recipes. If you have to cook, why not cook the best you can for your family. You can really focus in on the beneficial foods for your family. A win-win situation when it comes to cooking good tasting but absolutely nutritional meals. Highly recommended.

awesome
I have had this book for a few years, and I use it extensively. Very informative.

excellent book
The one and only book you will ever need on Herbs. A must for anyone who uses them. The best part of the book is the "side affects" to each herb. Something you normally do not hear about, but need to know when taking herbs.

Well worth the $$.....
I have been learning about herbs for a few years now, once in a while you run across a book that seems to give you information that others do not, Michael has done just that. It is in terms that I understand, and want to try to grow these plants and learn how to use them. If you are looking for a book that helps you understand, and helps make you feel like you really could accomplish herb growing, please invest in this book. It was orginally found at our local library. Hey, a no risk sneak preview !

Healing Journeys: The Power of Rubenfeld Synergy
Published in Paperback by Booklocker.com (28 September, 1998)
Authors: Vicki Mechner and Ilana Rubenfeld
Average review score:

Teaching and Healing Stories
Reading actual stories of people's experiences with Rubenfeld Synergy® is a powerful way to understand how this hands-on, body-centered psychotherapy can help people heal. So often we read accounts of healing methods that are all theory, and interesting as such, but leave us wondering how the work is done and how it really impacts people. These stories show in some detail just how a Rubenfeld Synergist helps clients become aware of how their present feelings, beliefs, and behavoir is shaped by earlier experiences that have lodged in their unconscious. As Ms. Mechner points out, awareness makes choice and change possible.

My own experiences with Rubenfeld Synergy have shown me how transformative this work can be. The process involves gentle touch, imagery and movement as well as intense listening on the part of the Synergist with no judgment, just acceptance. What a gift!

"Healing Journeys" presents a wide variety of issues and kinds of clients. There is something here for everyone to identify with and learn from. With 40 different authors, the writing is uneven, but, for the most part, highly readable.

Inspiring Stories of Healing
I really enjoyed reading this fascinating book! The forty-plus short stories all deal with healing from physical or psychological wounds through a therapy that combines bodywork with talk therapy. Each author writes in a different style and voice. I especially liked "Dancing the Two-Step," which is a series of letters written by a couple coping with marital problems, and "Remembering Eddie" by a woman with liver disease who links her pain to the memory of events surrounding her brother's death after a car accident.

I appreciated not having to read anything technical or theoretical; I enjoyed getting to understand Rubenfeld Synergy by reading many people's personal experiences. And what a variety of experiences! Childhood traumas, performance anxiety, devastating injuries, sexual problems, the suicide of a child, depression, and Alzheimer's are only some of the troubles the protagonists were facing when they first tried Rubenfeld Synergy.

Instead of viewing themselves as victims, the people in these stories learn to take responsibility for healing themselves. "Healing Journeys" reminded me a lot of Naomi Rachel Remen's "Kitchen Table Wisdom," in that people find the source of healing within themselves.

I could personally relate to these stories. I came away feeling that "Healing Journeys" includes stories for everyone, not just for people already interested in the body-mind connection. Now I have a good idea of how I might benefit from trying Rubenfeld Synergy or other body-mind approaches to healing.

The Healing Power of Echinacea, Goldenseal, and Other Immune System Herbs
Published in Paperback by Prima Publishing (March, 1997)
Author: Paul Bergner
Average review score:

You won't put it down
This book is packed full of information in a very readable form.Don't take it to bed. You won't get any sleep. Great information on the immune system and how Echinacea works WITH the body for healing. No! I won't lend this book out to anyone. It's too valuable.

Excellent guide to the immune system & its supporting herbs.
My favorite new herbal is Paul Bergner's excellent book, _The Healing Power of Echinacea and Goldenseal and Other Immune System Herbs_ (Prima Publishing, 1997). I hadn't ordered it previously thinking it was a short review of the two herbs. Big mistake! It covers the immune system and the whole category of immune modulating herbs.

This book is good for anyone who would like more background in the workings of the immune system (including health care professionals who know the physiology but are not used to thinking of immune function as a system) At least a quarter of the book is dedicated to the functioning of the immune system, covering technical material in prose ranging from humorous to stunningly beautiful. He has a gift for chosing just the right metaphor to explain difficult concepts.

In the section titled "Protective Powers: the Healing Power of Snot" he describes the IgA-saturated mucous secretions as a "sophisticated, genetically enginee! ! red antibiotic paste that is tailored to whatever infection is current." The antibodies carried in the mucus are produced in immediate response to current infections in the body and will attack them while protecting your tissues. In other words, don't try to stop your running nose!

One reason for tasting herbs- indeed holding them in your mouth for a while before swallowing- is that lymph nodes are located just behind the tongue. Echinacea for instance works best to stimulate lymphatic activity, but first it must get to the lymphatic system. Lymph, unlike blood, does not have a pump to circulate herbal factors. So if it lands in your stomach in a capsule, the herb may not get to the lymphatic system where it is needed- or at least may arrive ineffectively. (This is aside from taste preparing your liver to utilize herbs.)

The book also covers the titular herbs in detail, with emphasis on proper use, situations where they are inappropriately applied (90% of the tim! ! e for goldenseal) and when alternatives to the endangered g! oldenseal can be used. For example, he shows that goldenseal should NOT be taken when you are coming down with a flu or cold, although echinacea might be quite effective. Oregon grape OTOH is quite useful at that time, as a berberine-containing substitute for... echinacea. Goldenseal probably has no effective substitute when a long term cold or respiratory infection starts to turn bacterial, with yellow or green mucus because the hydrastine works directly upon the mucosal secretions. And goldenseal works NO better in large doses than small doses- as single capsule or half-dropper of tincture is all you will need for a dose.

The book covers a number of alternatives to echinacea and goldenseal, shows unusual uses for them and gives recipes. It is well worth adding to your herbal bookshelf.

An excellent buy
Yes, we've been waiting for this book. It's a good in-depth study of Echinacea and Goldenseal, giving us the true usefulness of these plants, and the folly of a lot of their popular use. This is a book for everybody interested in herbs, from casual herb users to practitioners.

The Healing Power of Faith
Published in Hardcover by Simon & Schuster (April, 1999)
Author: Harold Koenig
Average review score:

great scientifically based book for everyone
This book explores the healing aspects of faith in terms of scientific evidence. As the director of Duke University's Center for the Study of Religion/Spirituality and Health, the author, Dr. Harold Koenig, has become an expert in this discipline and shares everything he has learned in this very fascinating and informative book. Through his medical background and through fifteen years of dedicated research and after over 50 research studies Koenig provides a strong argument for the healing power of faith. From the very start, it is made clear that this is not a book claiming the miracles of God but rather is a book "concerned with concrete data" to "investigate the therapeutic or healing power of people's religious faith." Some of the findings from this data are that people who have a strong faith have healthier lifestyles possibly due to religions encouragement of proper and healthy conduct. Religious people also cope well with stress, are less likely to be depressed and hospitalized than their non-religious counterparts, have a stronger immune system, and live longer. Other important research, conducted by people other than Koenig's team, are included in this book as well. This book is quite comprehensive in its review of all the literature out there on the healing power of faith.

The book is filled with poignant personal stories that help illustrate the scientific findings. The stories are of depression, alcoholism, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other medical conditions. One such story is of Morty, a man who had been walking around with an blood alcohol level of 3.5. Morty was delivered to a detoxication unit where he stopped drinking on the first day of arrival and had an almost painless physical withdrawal from alcohol because he believed in the grace of God. Each story is as heartwarming and as inspiring as the one before. I loved how these stories were so smoothly used in adjunct with the scientific findings. It is definitely an effective blend of real life to which we all can relate and science from which we all can learn.

Another great thing about this book is that at the very end it offers suggestions to how one can benefit from the Power of faith. It is separated into three different parts: 1) if you are already religious, 2) if you are not religious, and 3) if you simply are not yet ready to consider religion. This is very nice because it offers suggestions for everyone not only those who are religious and are already benefiting.

A definite plus to this book is that is it easy reading. Although it deals with real scientific research the entire book is very readable. One does not get bored with scientific jargon. In fact the book is very engaging and I finished it in one night. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who is interested in this subject. We all can learn from it, religious people and atheists alike.

Heart warming book
Heart warming book that beautifully combines scientific data with personal stories. Koenig writes well, keeps your interest, and brings medical research to an understandable level. His point is clear--faith is good for your health.

Moving and informative
A fascinating book that kept my attention throughout. Nice blend of personal stories that illustrate some remarkable research. Recommend highly.

The Healing Power of Whole Foods
Published in Paperback by Healthways Nutrition (September, 1993)
Author: Beth Loiselle
Average review score:

A must read book for everyone!
I bought this book after I began to think that, despite how healthy I THOUGHT I was eating, certain health problems I was suffering from including borderline obesity, recurrent infections, and skin problems (for the latter two doctors told me there was nothing that could be done) were at least in part nutrition related (the rest I believe is stress). The explanations as to why one should cut out refined carbohydrates (i.e. white flour, white rice, all sugars, etc.) were good and made sense even to a nutrition/biology newbie, but I have read more in depth explanations on the web. The author's extensive lists of what is okay and what is not okay to eat make shopping for the whole foods lifestyle and label reading easy. The recipes have been great though I have had to alter a few a little (like adding more oil to the banana bread recipe) to my own taste, and there are tons of recipes. While I felt that a "perfect" whole foods was diet was a little unrealistic for me and my family, I (and my whole family) have been following a "liberal" whole foods diet with great ease and success. My skin is clearing up, the infections have lessened in frequency and intensity, and I have lost 15 pounds in the 4 months that I have been following a "liberal" whole foods diet. I wonder what would happen to my health if I followed a "perfect" whole foods diet! Even if you think you are healthy now and think you eat well, get this book, after reading it you will be amazed to find out that you may have thought wrong, and this book gives you great tools to do something about it!

A very helpful book.
This book offers hope for those with chronic health problems. The book is very specific and detailed about what is and is not recommended to eat. Lots of recipes are included.

Inspirational and practical help on improving your diet!
Beth's book is full of ideas, recipes, and information about natural foods that you WILL use! Beth's easy to understand and inspirational book is a must for those wanting to learn every aspect of the basics of eating and healing through whole foods

Heat Transfer With Applications
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall (29 June, 1998)
Author: Kirk D. Hagen
Average review score:

Great book, very useful
I learned a lot from this book. It's easy to read and has many good examples plus answers in the back of the book which really help. I recommend this book to any student who wants a good understanding of heat transfer.

Great Resource!
Tons of Great Examples in every chapter. Very useful for any type of heat transfer. Makes it very clear. This is a definately needed resource for any Engineer!

A great book...relates the theory to real problems!
I really enjoyed this book, and I feel that I have a pretty good understanding of the subject. The book teaches you enough theory to understand the concepts, but doesn't get bogged down in a lot of mathematics. It's easy to read, full of good example problems, and has answers at the back of the book for every other problem at the end of the chapters so you can check your homework solutions. There are worked application example problems at the end of every chapter, and application problems in the homework sets too. The appendix has all the thermal propeties you need to work the homework problems, and there are even curve fit equations of liquids and gases that you can use in computer programs for convection problems. There were a few errors in the book, but they weren't serious. I think that a person could even learn heat transfer on his own without a professor if he had this book, but it always helps to have someone there to explain it when you have questions. I highly recommend this book!
